St Mary's Church.

The pre-conquest St Mary, Bishophill, Junior church.

From discoveries it is likely that there was a church here in the 8th century. St Mary Bishophill Junior has a tower from the 10th and 11th century, the oldest in York. The south (facing the road) and east walls of the church were rebuilt in the 19th century. (Ref 1b)
