The name varies with time: in 1852 it was known as 'The Board', and in 1952 as 'The Anglers' Arms'. As noted now it has become 'The Snickleway Inn' after a book 'The Snickelways of York' by Mark Jones. Note that the pub's name differs in spelling from the term coined by Jones in 1983.
