Minster gateway

Site of one of four Minster precinct gateways

The current structure was built about 1600 using older timbers. Until 1903 when Deangate was created, this was the only way through from Goodramgate into College Street. It was once the site also of a bridge over Goodramgate to Bedern (from about 1400) which allowed the Vicars Choral to walk to the Minster without leaving the precinct. (Ref. 2)
