Towers

Holy Trinity Church and the Minster

The two towers date from about the same time, the early to mid 15th century. The minster tower is the south west tower and on this day in late April is flying the flag of St. George, perhaps for St. George's Day celebrations.

St. George's Day is 23rd April and as a Boy Scout in the 1950s we paraded (starting in Parliament Street) to and from a Minster service on the nearest Sunday to the 23rd. Sitting in the unheated Minster in short sleeves and shorts in April is not to be recommended of the faint hearted!
