Barley Hall

The Great Hall

When a clearing out of old offices and workshops was undertaken in the 1980s this medieval gem came to light. It was saved from demolition when the York Archaeological Trust purchased the building. The name 'Barley Hall' is in memory of a founder and chairman of the Trust who died in 1990. The house has now been restored to look as it did towards the end of the 15th century.

This view of the Great Hall is taken from the public right of way passage which runs through the building.
