Door at Number 5

Ogee arched head at Number 5 Colliergate.

Introduced into England in the 14th century from the arab world it became quite fashionable. The arch is also known as the Venetian arch (as it also became populare in Venice Italy), and as a keel arch from its resemblance to the (up-side-down) keel of a boat.
