St. Martin's Clock

17th century

Fitted on the east end of St. Martin's Church in 1668 it was renovated in 1754 and 1778 when the admiral with his sextant was added. The clock was badly damaged in the 1942 air raid which destroyed the church and though the admiral originally rotated such as his sextant pointed to the sun, this feature was not enabled when the clock was restored and returned to its former position over Coney street in 1966.
