St John's.

St. John, Ousebridge End.

A medieval church which survived the Reformation but not the more recent church closures, St. John's being closed in 1939. The current building is mainly 15th century, though the east wall is more modern due to the widening of North Street in 1850. In the mid 20th century, a small churchyard remained on Micklegate, since lost to a street widening. The church building became first an Institute for Architecture, and more recently a restaurant.
