Bar Walls

13th/14th century

A section of the wall which rose steeply up the river bank from Lendal tower to St. Leonard's Infirmary. Most of the houses which backed onto the wall have been removed. In 1874 the wall was lowered by 5 feet. This section of barely 30 m (100 ft) is not open to the public.
