Bar Wall

Rising steeply from the river.

The Roman fortress walls were sited above the river bank. This is a short section of the medieval walls between the river at Lendal Tower and the Roman wall adapted as the medieval boundary. It is part of a stretch of wall between the river and Bootham Bar which is not accessible to the public.
