Skeldergate

Runs parallel to the Ouse from Ouse Bridge to Skeldergate Bridge. On the riverside were warehouses associated with the import of foreign goods which, until the 19th century, came directly to York in sea-going ships. These warehouses were modernised over the years, and the remaining ones have been converted or rebuilt into flats. On the opposite side of the river most of the older buildings have been removed and replaced by modern flats.

Turn left ahead onto Skeldergate Bridge heading for the Castle. Bear right to the Bar Walls heading clockwise for Micklegate bar, and turn sharp right into Cromwell Road leading to Bishophill Senior.
