Tower Street follows the course of the Castle Wall from the Foss (now Castle Mills Bridge) to Castlegate. The road predates Clifford Street which cut into its curve in 1880 now making it look as though it is two streets at right angles.

Turn right into the Castle precinct; turn left into St. Georges Field leading to the river.
