Victoria Bar

Cut through the Bar Walls in 1838 to connect the develloping Bishophill area with Nunnery Lane. During its construction an ancient blocked gateway was found which was possibly the lost Lounlith Postern, a medieval entrance on the line of Lounlithgate which was close to Baile Hill.

Climb on to the Bar Walls: left towards Skeldergate Postern; right towards Micklegate Bar.
