Goodramgate.

Probably formed from a path created through the ruins of the old Roman fortress heading north from just inside the south east gate (porta principalis) to the north east gate (porta decumana). When the Minster precincts were carved out of the northern corner of the fortress, Goodramgate was diverted to the east and a new entrance through the walls was created on the site of what is now Monk Bar. In the late middle ages, Goodramgate was the site of the upholsterers' stalls. (Ref. 2)
