New Street.

Built in 1745-7 across land opened up on the removal of the derelict Davy House.

New Street is pedestrianised.

On the left is the site of the New Street Methodist Chapel, built in 1805. The chapel closed in 1908 and was reopened in 1920 as the Tower Cinema. This closed and was the whole was demolished in 1966. The site was then rebuilt as an expansion to a department store now extending from Feasegate and Coney Street.
