St Leonard's Place with Exhibition Square on the left.

St. Leonard's Place was built in 1834-5. It's construction entailed destroying a section of the Bar Walls approximately 100 m (330 ft) long and removing the Barbican of Bootham Bar. It was suggested at the time that Bootham Bar itself be removed, but fortunately that did not happen.

At this junction, Duncombe Place heading to the Minster is on the left, Museum Street heading for Lendal Bridge is on the right, and Blake Street heading for St. helen's Square is straight ahead.
