Walmgate runs between Foss Bridge near the City centre and the walls at Walmgate Bar and was the main road to Hull. It never became fashionable as did Micklegate, Monkgate or Bootham (these latter two outside the walls) and runs through an area which became much run down in the 19th century.

Turn left ahead into St. Denys Road (Piccadilly until 1912 when Piccadilly was cut through into Pavement) leading to Piccadilly.
