Walmgate runs between Foss Bridge near the City centre and the walls at Walmgate Bar and was the main road to Hull. It never became fashionable as did Micklegate, Monkgate or Bootham (these latter two outside the walls) and runs through an area which became much run down in the 19th century.

St. Denys Road is on the right running through to Piccadilly. Before the extension of Piccadilly into Pavement in 1912 this was the end of Piccadilly.
